5 Ways to Survive Without a Job

Unemployment is a scary thing. The worse part is the shame and helplessness that comes from idling an able mind. My aim in this article is to give you five ways to survive without a job. Most people would like to find work tips, but the truth is that unemployment is higher than 9%, there is a global credit freeze that has prevented new businesses, educate, and job fairs are a joke.

In the last six months I have sent at least 20,000 resumes, and have attended 29 job fairs, and I am still unemployed. I have gained weight, I have become lethargic, depressed, and really a pain to be with. I have a car note, rent due, and a student loan to be paid. My savings account is as ridiculous as the United States’ deficit, but I’m surviving.

Here are five things that have allowed me to survive:

1) I had to bring my ego to push out the window. To pay rent, one of my friends earn dual degree now the drive-thru window at McDonald’s operates. In this economy, you have to be ready, jobs, work you feel is beneath you. Leave your ego!

2) Do your work. Yes, I know that physical work is an insult to us all college grad lazy office worker types, but hard work can pay your bills to gigs! I have the cutting of grass, cut trees to accept removal of debris, and any job that comes my way. I earned $ 500 last week with my green thumb.

3) Learn how to live with less. Do you really need an expensive phone, Starbucks, or cable TV?

4) Sell all that you do not use on a site like Craigslist or back of this. I am sure that you have an old unused computer, DVD player or a game that you no longer use. Sell it for a couple of quick money. I was on Mother’s day for cash strapped, and I made a quick $ 150 by selling an old bike. Look around your house and sell everything you have not used in the past four months. One could even look for deals on second hand shops for a profit to sell online.

5) Fast food and restaurants are OUT! Save money by eating in and buy food in bulk. This is good not only good for your health but also for your body.
